Nankome umeboshi are seasoned and pickled with just salt, shiso herb (red perilla), and plum vinegar. No other ingredients are added.

I have three Japanese markets within 10 miles of me. This umeboshi is much better than the products carried by any of them. Color and texture are far better than the light pink, soggy balls of sadness I can get here. Perfect for sauces, dressings, and as a condiment for rice dishes.
